Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao,(Manny Pacquiao vs. Jeff Horn 2017stream you tube) billed as The Fight of the Century, or the Battle for Greatness, was a professional boxing match between undefeated five-division world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. and eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao. It took place on May 2, 2015, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mayweather Jr. won the contest by unanimous decision,[2] with two judges scoring it 116–112 and the other 118–110.Although the fight was considered to be one of the most anticipated sporting events in history, it was largely considered a letdown by critics and audiences alike upon its broadcast.
Despite predictions that Mayweather–Pacquiao would be the highest-grossing fight in history as early as 2009, disagreements between the two professional boxers' camps on terms for the fight prevented the bout from coming to fruition until 2015.[4][5] The failure to arrange the Mayweather–Pacquiao fight was named the 2010 Event of the Year by The Ring.[6] Serious negotiations were kickstarted in 2014 by an unlikely source: a Hollywood waiter and part-time actor made a key introduction between Pacquiao's trainer and confidant Freddie Roach and CBS President Les Moonves, who both worked to facilitate the match. By 2015, negotiations for the fight had been finalized, with all of the major issues that prevented the fight from happening in the past resolved, including purse split, drug testing, and location.[10][11]
The fight was televised through a pay-per-view (PPV) jointly produced by HBO and Showtime, the respective rightsholders of Pacquiao and Mayweather. In the Philippines, the fight was also broadcast in simulcast across three of the country's major broadcast television networks. The fight was expected to be the most lucrative in the history of professional boxing: with an initial estimate of 4.4 million purchases, the PPV alone broke revenue records in the U.S. with $410 million in revenue, making it the highest-grossing PPV in history, surpassing Mayweather–Álvarez in 2013. By September 2015, the figure had been amended to 4.6 million.] The broadcast of the fight in the Philippines was watched by nearly half the country's households. Due to the record high price of the PPV, the fight was also widely broadcast through unauthorized online streams on services such as Periscope.
Despite the large amount of hype that surrounded it, critics felt that the bout itself was disappointing, primarily citing Mayweather's defense-oriented strategy in the ring and Pacquaio's difficulty in landing punches on Mayweather. This had led to some critics re-labelling the fight 'Better Never Than Late' rather than 'The Fight of the Century'.[16] It was later revealed following the event that Pacquiao had sustained an undisclosed injury to his right shoulder while training, and that while it had healed in time for the fight, he re-injured it during the 4th round. Further controversy emerged when it was alleged that prior to the fight, Mayweather had been administered IV fluids cleared by the United States Anti-Doping Agency through a retroactive "therapeutic use exemption"—an exemption, however, not authorized by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

November 28th, 2015. Tyson Fury challenges long reigning unified World Heavyweight Champion Wladimir Klitschko on this day in Düsseldorf, Germany. Also known as Dr. Steelhammer, Wladimir’s WBO, WBA, IBF, IBO, The Ring and lineal titles were on the line. Fury was a 5-1 betting underdog.
For the first time ever In Wladimir Klitschko’s boxing career that spanned nearly 20 years, he has to face an opponent who has nearly all physical advantages over him; Tyson Fury is 13 years younger at 26 years of age vs Wladimir at 39, while Fury stands at 6’9” vs Wladimir at 6’6” and Fury also enjoys a 4” reach advantage at 85” vs Wladimir's81”. Wladimir and Fury came in at 245.75 and 247 Ibs respectively.
On October 2000, Wladimir began his first reign as heavyweight champion when he outpointed Chris Byrd for the WBO strap, avenging his elder brother Vitali’s loss to Byrd in April of the same year. Wladimir would enjoy 5 successful title defenses via knockouts before being shockingly upset by hard hitting South African southpaw Corrie Sanders, as Wladimir was stopped after four knockdowns in under 6 minutes in 2004. Wladimir would fight for a world title again in 2004 but in another upset loss, he was stopped by 7-1 betting underdog Lamon Brewster in the 5th round (this defeat was later avenged in a title defense via stoppage in 2007).
On April 2006, Wladimir would challenge for the world title once again in a rematch against Chris Byrd for the IBF and IBO titles. Wladimir began his second reign as world heavyweight champion, stopping Byrd in the 7th round. Since then, Wladimir Klitschko has been unbeaten and had 18 successful consecutive title defenses between November 2006 and April 2015. After Wladimir’s UD victory over David Haye in 2011, the Klitschkos became the first boxing brothers in history to hold all major world heavyweight titles; Wladimir held the WBO, WBA, IBF, IBO, The Ring and lineal heavyweight titles while Vitali held the WBC strap.
Throughout his career, Wladimir had victories over Bryant Jennings, Kubrat Pulev, Francesco Pianeta, Ruslan Chagaev, Mariusz Wach, Jean Marc Mormeck, Calvin Brock, Jameel McCline, Phil Jackson, Eddie Chambers, Hasim Rahman, Axel Schulz, Ray Mercer, Alexander Povetkin, Monte Barrett, Frans Botha, Sultan Ibragimov, Danell Nicholson, David Haye, Sam Peter (2x), Tony Thompson (2x) and Chris Byrd (2x).
Going into the bout, Wladimir Klitschko and Tyson Fury held records of 64(53)-3 and 24(18)-0 respectively. Fury had wins over Steve Cunningham and Dereck Chisora (2x) going into the fight.
Fury as the 5-1 betting underdog surprised the boxing world when he outboxed and outfoxed the seasoned Wladimir in almost every round as Wladimir could not find his mark for most of the fight. Fury utilized footwork, head movements and punching from unorthodox angles. Wladimir was never used to fighting opponents that towers above nor having a significant reach advantage over him as he was unable to let his hands ago until the last two rounds, which was too late as Fury had racked up a huge lead. Wladimir had his best round in the 12th as he landed several clean shots to the chin but it hardly made a difference as Fury had won at least 9 or 10 rounds.
Fury was deducted a point in the 11th round after several warnings from Tony Weeks throughout the fight (I have highlighted the point deduction and a few but not all occasions of Fury’s rabbit punching). However, the deduction did not affect the scoring at all. With this win, Fury achieved what the great Lennox Lewis did; bringing the unified World Heavyweight Championship back to the United Kingdom.
This is the first time in Wladimir’s nearly 20 year career that he’s lost a fight by decision. All of his previous losses were knockouts; Ross Puritty, Lamon Brewster, Corrie Sanders. It is notable that all of Wladimir’s losses till this day were upsets including this.
A rematch aptly billed as “Repeat or Revenge” will take place October 29th where Fury makes the first defense of his WBA, WBO, IBO, The Ring and lineal heavyweight titles. Fury had been stripped of the IBF title for choosing to fight Wladimir in a rematch and not his mandatory defense in Vyacheslav Glazkov. The rematch will take place in Manchester, England.
Let me know what are your predictions for Wladimir Klitschko vs Tyson Fury II.
Thanks guys. Remember to rate and subscribe! Keep your punches up!
